- writer

I was born in a small mining town in Yorkshire then moved over the border into Nottinghamshire where I still live.

I'm mum to four grown up kids, wife to Jeff and slave to a Jack Russell terrier called Milo. I don't have any exciting hobbies but I love entering competitions - recent win was a patio table and chairs and 6 bottles of choice plonk.

I read a lot, obviously, and recently I've been researching my family tree. Mum's lot have always believed that they're related to G. K. Chesterton, but to date I've found no evidence to support this. However, I have found one very interesting scoundrel...er I mean ancester...who spent some time in Derby jail. It was in the early 1800's so he probably just stole a loaf of bread!

I've been scribbling as far back as I can remember and started to sell my short fiction to the women's magazines back in 2001. I've been a contributor to most of the UK magazines now. You can see which ones if you click on the Short Stories link above. I've also been published in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Bahrain, India, France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and South Africa.

I've written for ezines and given quotes for several publications including Wanna Be a Writer? by Jane Wenham-Jones and How to Write and Sell Short Stories by Della Galton (Accent Press)

My novel, The Cuckoo Club, is curently being considered for publication. More on that when I have news!

The best thing about being a writer is I get to work from home.

My study is a converted garage. This is it on the left, tidier than normal. Note the coffee machine - an essential piece of kit for the serious writer!
